If I get laid off at work, can I cancel my trip for reimbursement?

Generally, travel insurance can provide reimbursement if a trip is canceled due to involuntary layoff or termination of employment. This benefit, Employment Layoff, provides reimbursement for prepaid, non-refundable trip payments and deposits.

All Tin Leg policies provide Employment Layoff coverage for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption when the following conditions are met:

  • A traveler or their traveling companion is terminated or laid off
  • They have been employed by their place of employment for the past two consecutive years

Trip Cancellation provides coverage if you cancel your trip for a covered reason, such as Employment Layoff, before you depart. All of Tin Leg’s policies provide 100% reimbursement of trip costs under the Trip Cancellation benefit.

If you return home early from your trip for a covered reason, Trip Interruption can reimburse you for the unused portion of your trip cost as well as your flight home. Tin Leg’s Economy and Standard policies provide 100% reimbursement under the Trip Interruption benefit, while Tin Leg’€™s Luxury policy provides 150% for Trip Interruption coverage.
