Does travel insurance pay upfront?

Across the board, travel insurance policies are generally designed on a reimbursement basis. This means the traveler will first pay out-of-pocket and then file a claim to be reimbursed. In order to receive reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses, receipts and other documentation may be required.

At Tin Leg’€™s discretion, all, or a portion of benefits, may be paid directly to the provider of the services rendered. This can include direct payment for Emergency Medical or Medical Evacuation benefits. Non-Medical Evacuation transportation is almost always coordinated by the travel insurance provider and therefore can be paid direct up to the maximum benefit shown. Medical Evacuation coverage may also be paid for directly by the provider when transportation is pre-approved.

In an emergency situation, Tin Leg advises their customers to contact Tin Leg’€™s 24 hour Emergency Assistance at 866-887-7105 when calling from within the US and 317-582-2687 when calling from outside the US. This number can be found on their policy confirmation documentation. Tin Leg recommends contacting this service as soon as reasonably possible to begin arranging any direct payments that may be available.
