Tin Leg Coverage Statement for Covid-19

Since early 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has severely impacted the travel industry, leading to worldwide travel restrictions, border closures, and new travel insurance requirements.

We understand the Covid-19 pandemic has led to more concerns for travelers than ever before. However, travel insurance benefits may still be available for travelers who contract the virus or are quarantined before or during their trip. For other Covid-related concerns, such as border closures or travel restrictions, the Cancel For Any Reason upgrade may be available.

For Tin Leg Economy, Standard, Luxury, Adventure, USA Only, Basic, and Platinum policies:

Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage for Covid-19:

Tin Leg’s Economy, Standard, Luxury, Adventure, USA Only, Basic, and Platinum policies all include Cancel For Covid-19 Sickness coverage. In order for a traveler to be covered to cancel or interrupt their trip due to an infectious disease, the traveler or their traveling companion would need to contract the virus or be physically quarantined themselves.

Fear of traveling, a travel advisory, or a destination being inaccessible due to the virus outbreak is not covered under these Tin Leg policies. These reasons can only be covered by Cancel For Any Reason, which is not available within these policies.

Emergency Medical and Medical Evacuation coverage for Covid-19:

Tin Leg’s Economy, Standard, Luxury, Adventure, USA Only, Basic, and Platinum policies all include Medical Coverage for Covid-19. These Tin Leg policies can provide Emergency Medical coverage for a traveler’s incurred medical expenses if they become infected during their trip, as well as Medical Evacuation coverage if their sickness requires an evacuation.

Travel Delay coverage for quarantine due to Covid-19:

In the event a traveler must quarantine before returning home, they can be covered under the Travel Delay benefit for the cost of their meals and accommodations during the quarantine. This coverage may be extended up to 7 days after the traveler’s return home date or until they are cleared to return home, whichever takes place first.

Certain destinations require this coverage in order for a traveler to gain entry into the country. Costa Rica, specifically, requires $2,000 in Travel Delay coverage. Tin Leg’s Economy, Standard, Luxury, Adventure, USA Only, Basic, and Platinum policies do not include that high of a coverage amount. The only Tin Leg policy with $2,000 in Travel Delay coverage is the Silver policy.

Tin Leg’s Silver and Gold policies include Cancel For Covid-19 Sickness coverage. In order for a traveler to be covered to cancel or interrupt their trip due to an infectious disease, the traveler or their traveling companion would need to contract the virus or be physically quarantined themselves.

Fear of traveling, a travel advisory, or a destination being inaccessible due to the virus outbreak is not covered under the standard Trip Cancellation benefit. Travelers with these concerns can be covered only if they purchase the Cancel For Any Reason upgrade, which can be included within both Tin Leg Silver and Gold.
